Antifascist Kurdish Solidarity
On Tuesday evening we hosted an excellent meeting with members of the local Sussex Kurdish Community (kurdishcom.com) and others who have recently traveled to Rojava.
Around 30-40 people turned up to hear the history of the Kurdish struggle for autonomy against the 4 countries, parts of which make up Kurdistan (Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey). The speakers were interesting and eloquent, and very keen to stress the antifascist aspect of the Kurdish struggle.
We also had a speaker who had traveled to Rojava as part of a delegation for International Woman’s Day. She gave an excellent account of her visit, with photos, to give an overview of how civil society is being organised by the revolution away from the front lines against Daesh.
Over all, an brilliant evening of solidarity between local antifascists and Kurds, with more to come. Watch this space!
